Metalab wird Amazon-Affiliate?
by Benjamin Klemencic 24 Feb '14

Ist das dem Metalab wirklich egal? -> http://wikisend.com/download/481842/Kritik an Amazon – Wikipedia.pdf (Auszug daraus: http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Benutzer:Stauffen/Kritik_an_Amazon) Thema: https://metalab.at/wiki/2013-01-24_Jour_Fixe Amazon-Affliates (redplanet) Vorschlag: metalab-Affiliate, um mehr Geld einzunehmen. Plugin für Firefox/Chrome entwickeln? Pepi: klingt dann komisch vierlex: evtl. inoffiziell machen?

Re: [Metalab] just trolling, eh?
by Benjamin Klemencic 17 Feb '14

17 Feb '14

> ps. Could you please copy/paste the text from the facebook article you > mention to the list? Here you are :) (FYI: The text is public: there is no need to have an account on Facebook nor to log in to read it. Click on the link below for the image Captain Watson is referring to.) Captain Paul Watson: "The Amusing Obsessions of My Silly Little Band of Trolls You ain’t nobody unless you have a following of silly little trolls. I appear to have a sizeable following although usually I don’t pay much attention to them. Always best to ignore these types of obsessive and narcissistic wing nuts. But the benefit of having a following of wannabe troublesome trolls is that they can be downright amusing at times so I do appreciate it when friends send over a few examples of obsessiveness for my amusement. The latest trivia from tacky trollville started innocently enough over two months ago when I was walking down the street in sub-zero temperatures in New York City. I passed a street vender selling scarves and for $5 purchased myself, a bogus Burberry scarf. A few hours later some pictures were taken as I went to do some media interviews and in the pictures I can be seen wearing said bogus “Burberry” scarf. This was met with a flurry of criticisms about how I was wasting Sea Shepherd funds sporting a designer scarf. And even worse that I was a hypocrite for wearing a scarf made from lamb’s wool or cashmere. Aside from the fact that I am not a paid employee of Sea Shepherd, the scarf purchased with my own funds was a measly $5, so I casually posted that it was not a real Burberry and it was not made of lambs wool. I checked the label and saw that it was 100% Acrylic (with a cashmere feel – whaterver that means) and horror of horrors, it was made in China. End of discussion? Hardly, this was met with derision for ripping off Burberry, for being a cheap bastard and for wearing a scarf made from what they assumed was polyester and for being un-American for wearing a Chinese made product, most likely made by tortured children in dungeons. OMG if I had bothered to read the label I would most certainly have elected to freeze than participate in supporting Chinese child slavery and the pirating of a honourable struggling company like Burberry. So much controversy just because I forked out a fin on a New York street to a street vender for the singular reason I was frigging cold. A month later some of the trolls are still talking about it. I wish that I could be so easily amused, it would save me a great deal on comic books and Netfliks. I am not sure what inspires people I don’t know and have never met, to follow my movements so carefully and to comment on such trivial things. I suppose I should be flattered. As Oscar Wilde was mused, “the only thing worst than being talked about is not being talked about.” A couple of months ago I bought a suit to attend a court case. This was followed with comments on how I was wearing an expensive suit and is that where Sea Shepherd donations go? Two weeks later I wore the suit again for the opening of a film in Hollywood and some of the same people who commented on my purchase of an “expensive” suit were now commenting on how I was wearing the same suit and the same tie, as if they thought it outrageous that I wore the same suit twice. I confess I was amused. Human obsessions with trivialities does indeed amuse me. And Sea Shepherd did not buy the suit although that need hardly be said but it appears I have to cover all the bases in the face of the fabrications of reality that bend around me continuously. What I find absolute fascinating however is that many of these trolls actually believe that their criticisms upset me and that they make me angry or depressed etc. I’m sure they would want to believe that their words have a devastating impact upon me emotionally although I am not sure exactly why, but the fact is that I have never understood how anything said from anyone I don’t know and have never met could possibly upset me. Some of them make videos attacking me, including a couple of videos saying that I’m dead. It is always amusing to actually read that I’m dead, I mean how many people get to read about their own death? As former Yugoslavian President Tito once said when he read his own obituary, “rumours of my death have been greatly exaggerated.” I don’t know how many trolls follow what I do, what I say and where I go but there are certainly a few of them. There are even a few facebook and websites setup for the singular purpose of obsessing about me, where the Watson hating trolls gather to compare their particular obsession with me. I am often tempted to check them out just for amusement but I decided years ago to simply ignore them. I mean when you really bother to think about it however, it is somewhat flattering. Maybe their hatred of me validates themselves in some unfathomable way. But I need not get a swelled head over it because my case is not unique. Anyone who is anyone in the media has their share of obsessive trolls and the bigger your profile, the greater number of trolls jumping on you like fleas on a dog. President Obama has millions of hateful trolls telling us out inept he is, how stupid he is, how crooked he is, how he is not even a real American YET why should he care about what they say? He’s the most powerful man in the world despite all the failures attributed to him. And why is that? Because the opinions of his trolls including the entire troll managed FOX network are meaningless drivel. The trolls can’t affect a person who actually achieves something because the person being accused is too busy, achieving things to really care. Sometimes when I am feeling mischievous I am tempted to make up some malicious rumours about myself and spread them about but then common sense smacks me in the head to remind me that would make me a troll and trolls are pretty much the bottom dwellers of social media and that thought alone sends shudders of disgust through my senses. Anyhow to all my silly band of trolls, whoever you are, wherever you are, whatever you are, have fun. I don’t mind giving meaning to your lives, consider it my gift to replace the fact that you don’t have much of a life yourselves. It’s the least I can do. Graphic: Myself as seen by a troll. You see they cannot understand why anyone would do anything unless they get money for it so therefore it is natural for them to assume that I do what I do to get money. Last year my income was zero dollars but that fact does not deter the insistence of the silly band of trolls that I make millions. I'm just happy that I don't share their obsessiveness and their greed, I mean what a miserable life that must be." https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10152190620775932&set=a.44311507093… http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paul_Watson
