by Christoph Schindler 05 Jun '14

05 Jun '14

Das Metalab-Wiki ist hiermit auf die Version 1.23 umgestellt. Nachfolgende Änderungen aus dem Changelog sind vielleicht für einige von Euch interessant… Beschwerden wegen erhöhten Spam-Aufkommens bitte an die WMF. hop ----- Forwarded message from Markus Glaser <glaser(a)hallowelt.biz> ----- === Notifications === With 1.23, MediaWiki starts to behave more like a modern website as regards notifications, to keep the editors of your wiki engaged and always up to date about what interests them. This used to require several custom settings. * (bug 45020) Make preferences "Add pages I create and files I upload to my watchlist" and "pages and files I edit" true by default. * (bug 45022) Make preference "Email me when a page or file on my watchlist is changed" true by default. * (bug 49719) Watch user page and user talk page by default. This will allow your new users to immediately start benefiting from the watchlist and email notification features, without needing to first read all the docs to find out that they're as useful as they are. ----- End forwarded message -----

MagicShifter got featured on CCC Not Safe 4 Work Webradio :)
by Philipp Tiefenbacher 04 Jun '14

Werte Metalab Liste! Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic --Arthur C. Clarke a personal note that I attach too ALL the emails I sent nowadays: Grant Snowden Asylum! NOW! Ok I'm a realist. Austria probably would not do it. Germany? Maybe, but I'm not sure? Maybe the US? lets see it is an interesting development. But back to the focus. I don't expect ANY EU country to do it but I expect it from the EU because it is supposed to stand 4 democracy (most europeans want to see a happy lolcat snwoden), freedom (well I expect freedom for snowden! nothing less.), liberty to travel around in the EU and explore all these amazing countries so close together that are very different but share some common culter like GNU, LInux, Firefox, Metalab, Friends, Family, etc... I dont really think the "thing" that connects the EU is religgion. Our Senior C++ architect (also funded by AWS, yay!) is a deep believer in the Muslim faith. And I dont have the feeling that he wants to blow up anything (ok once he set a tent on fire but I think it was an accident I think)...ok I'm getting paranoid I need sleep. I had my birthdayparty today and I did not sleep for moar than 20hour ;))

Hands-On GIT Workshop
by Chris Hager 03 Jun '14

03 Jun '14

Hello everyone! A hands-on GIT workshop in two or more parts is happening! First evening will be Tue, 27.5.2014 (today in 2 Weeks). All skill levels are welcome -- if you are curious, feel invited to join! https://metalab.at/wiki/GIT_Workshop_2014 *About Me* I've been using GIT for about 6 years professionally, from small projects to open-source contributions to large production systems and deployment toolchains (eg. for MeetMe, one of the largest social networks in the USA with ~60mio members) and am fairly fluent with most GIT workflows. I'm happy to help people get a fun and efficient start with GIT. My Jabber handle is metachris(a)jabber.metalab.at if you want to contact me via IM. Feedback and ideas are appreciated! Best regards, - Chris
