Hi, I'm a hacker and law student from the United States coming in to speak at 29C3. Since I am a student, I will be free a few weeks early, so have decided to spend my entire winter break in Europe. I have heard great things about Metalab from friends (Enki, Fin, even Johannes) so wanted to take the opportunity to visit. Unfortunately, I will still be taking exams when roboexotica is happening. I was wondering if anyone might be willing to put me and a hacker friend up while in Vienna for a few days. HEDONISTIKA: Call for proposals
by j. grenzfurthner/monochrom (das ende der nahrungskette) 27 Nov '12

27 Nov '12

HEDONISTIKA: Call for proposals http://www.monochrom.at/hedonistika Hedonistika will be a three-day, multi-modal event held in Montréal, CA that brings together food scholars, artists, and roboticists to examine the innumberable (and often hidden) ways in which technology and food are related. By engaging with the hegemony-challenging ideology of hacking, participants will seek to interrogate and expose the mutually constructive bonds of food and tech, while proposing alternative, playful, and stimulating reconfigurations. Part festival, part workshop, and part symposium, Hedonistika will merge research-creation with critical analysis, and community engagement with celebration. (Plus, it will taste and look really cool.) Hedonistika is looking for projects and individuals that explore the critical issues within these realms. The curators are accepting proposals for installation and performance work, completed or not for exhibition in the festival portion of the event. Artists should submit a pdf document comprised of · A short CV (2 pgs) · Short description of the project (150 words max) · Long description of the project (500 words max) including images if possible · Short bio · Description of support material · Documentation of past work (no more than 10 items) · URL to artist website Hedonistika is scheduled for 2013 in Montreal and will be an Elektra sponsored event. Please e-mail submissions to: hedonistika2013(a)gmail.com Deadline January 15th, 2013

monochrom's Kiki and Bubu: RATED R US Our favorite sock puppets Kiki and Bubu have some feelings, so they sign up for an online dating site. When the People of China want to become their friend, they are excited. However, sending the People of China a video of themselves proves to be difficult: Their content gets flagged as inappropriate and taken down from YouTube. On the long quest for knowledge which follows, Kiki and Bubu learn all about Internet censorship. And love. Enjoy Kiki and Bubu's newest and most epic (50 minutes!) puppet extravaganza! Notebook abzugeben???
by Anita Szensz 23 Nov '12

23 Nov '12

Liebe Liste! LG, Anita
