I got this PIC18F46K20 .. Has anyone got a Brenner8?
I have a need to be able to build and burn images for a PIC18F46K20 .. the project is for an ‘old-computer’ restoration project involving the replacement of very ancient diskette drives with modern SD cards. (fyi: oric-1 atmos cumulus project) The other developer I’m working with is using this: http://www.sprut.de/electronic/pic/projekte/brenner8/ Does anyone at Metalab have one I can borrow for a few hours? I seem to think there is one floating around, but I admit I could be dreaming .. or even maybe there are other better tools (that can handle programming 3.3v) in the ‘lab? j.

I'm pretty sure there is a PICkit-2 lying around, which technically belongs to Philipp. Last I checked, there was a drawer with uC programming tools. -Marius

I looked in that drawer but didn’t see it. I will will try to find a PICkit-2, that looks pretty good for my needs. Thanks again Marius .. j.

A pic2 programmer should be in my drawer in WEL. Feel free to borrow it for a few days :) greetings Philipp -- :: Philipp Tiefenbacher :: open source hardware/magic :: http://magicshifter.net/ :: http://metalab.at/ Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic --Arthur C. Note that the current version of the IDE (MPLAB X) is not compatible with pickit2 any more. You either need a pickit3 or an older version of the IDE. That's the main reason I stopped considering PIC for my projects. Andreas
I can offer a Mach-X [1], that supports it. regards, adrian [1] http://www.ccsinfo.com/product_info.php?products_id=machx On 02.12.2013 18:18, Jay Vaughan wrote:

Thanks Adrian - that actually looks pretty good. Do you know if it is compatible with the MPLab IDE in terms of ability to import workspaces and so on - or do you in fact just use MPLab with it? I’ll be in the ‘lab off and on this week, so I hope to get this sorted out so I can build and burn the bootloader soon .. j.

there is a stand alone burn-software similar to sprut, which just takes the .hex file and burns it onto your pic - either via socket or via ICD cable. adrian
