We had some problems with power last night; 3 of the "Fehlenstromindikator" switches went off, but we didn't manage to pinpoint the exact source of the problem. The circuits which seemed to be the troublesome ones were left off, that's probably the ones that are still off now. This is scary stuff. We really have to get someone professional to go through the entire power circuitry. ~/= Marius - Will trade an assembly hacker for a power electrician.

i agree - is anyone up for supervising that ?

I don't know, did this happen earlier? - I mean, in such a "strange" fashion? So far, the only problem was underpowerment, especially when lots of devices in the kitchen where active. It could also be a malfunctioning device which has a "Gehaeuseschluss", which wouldn't make me wonder, considering the state of some of them(Lamps!). So, plz don't be afraid of Starkstrom, re-turn on the FIs and lets see if this behaviour happens again before we throw out hundreds of euros for nothing(and actually we have the competence to fix the electricity inhouse, the only factor is time. IMHO hiring companies is nearly always a waste of money - and for pussies that don't know how to hold a screwdriver *scnr*) One thing we changed in the kitchen yesterday was connecting the Fryer(Friteuse, 3kW), plz unplug it and check again if there's still a problem. Have there been any lamps relocated? Anything else connected that wasn't there before? I'm pretty sure it is a connected device, not the circuits per se(They only lack more powerfull fuses/circuitry). regards Christian
Hi, Just a technical note: None of the fuses actually went off, it was just the FIs, but three different FIs. This indicates that it's not a problem with underpowered circuits, but actually return current on ground. ~/= Marius -- We are Elektropeople for a better living.

yes, that's why i point my finger on a malfunctioning device... However, i was not there when this happened yesterday and 3 different FIs is indeed strange, however, it occured the first time afaik?

well, it ocurred to me when setting up the new wiring in the kitchen that the ground wiring is not at all alignable to the alternate current wiring. The FI iirc depend on isolated ground wirings belonging to "their" circuit to sense residual current. Hence the wiring is a bit fucked up in regards to ground/FI functioning but imho NOT in regards to safety (one can notice that with three FIs dropping instead of just one ...) Regarding the matter in the kitchen, i also believe in a malfunctioning device. We have two UPS now, we could hook it up tonite and tomorrow we could test the wiring to align the power outlets to the fuses/FIs. Then i could get my stepfather to have a look at it (certified electrician with the municipality), but only after everything we can do is done. cheers, Philip -- a alphabetically be in organised sentence should words. fight censorship: HD-DVD processing key = 09f911029d74e35bd84156c5635688c0

No. Fuse B13 went of and can not be turned on again. Looks like a short circuits at least on that one in addition to the other strange things happening in our electricity installation. benko: some of the installations in the lab are obviously dangerous! noone did anything about it within the last year and I think it got in fact worse, not better, during that period. If you really think we can do that in-house please take responsibility for it and organize this asap. yours, - clifford -- ocaml graphics.cma <( echo 'open Graphics;;open_graph " 640x480"let complex_mul(a,b)(c,d)=(a*.c-.b*.d,a*.d+.b*.c)let complex_add(a,b)(c ,d)=(a+.c,b+.d);;let rec mandel c n=if n>0 then let z=mandel c(n-1) in complex_add(complex_mul z z)c else (0.0,0.0);; for x=0 to 640 do for y=0 to 480 do let c=((float_of_int(x-450))/.200.0,(float_of_int (y-240))/.200.0) in let cabs2(a,b)=(a*.a)+.(b*.b)in if cabs2(mandel c 50)<4.0 then plot x y done done;;read_line()' )
