Tl;DR: Please come, it's important :/ Hi. I would like to do one or more Wiki Gardening sessions/hackathon, to clean things up a little, translate important pages (Sergii and I imported and adapted a translation template), etc. I will create an event for Monday, 21st, so we can meet and improve stuff. Of course you are welcome to attend remotely or even take a look at stuff right now. Would be cool if somebody/everybody with moderator privileges could attend too. Cheers, Thomas

hi, if you have access to the server it would be coolto add some anti-spam things to user-registration. raumzeitlabor.de/wiki fE asks: "wenn es 20 nach 5 nachmittags ist.. was zeigt dir deine digitaluhr an ?" makes sense.. should i open a ticket for this? :* -flo

As far as we (msch and I) can tell, there has already been a captcha in place since at least mid november. Doesn't seem to do much. Got ideas? hop -- What should you do to a blue elephant? Cheer it up.

Got ideas? hop captchas are automatically cracked these days.. i'd suggest to implement the raumzeitlabor time thing or something similar that needs a certain understanding of the language + human skills to figure it out.. i saw a kitten captcha once.. there were 20 kittens and one puppy.. you click the puppy you get in.. something like this.. :* -flo

The problem with kittenauth and similar captchas is that there are usually too few combinations: If you have to click on the right image out of 21, you have a 5 % chance even if you are guessing blindly. And if you guess wrong, you have another 5 % chance at the next try. A human might become bored or annoyed before getting in, but bots are patient. If there are enough combinations to make it hard for bots, it becomes hard for humans, too. hp -- _ | Peter J. Holzer | Der eigene Verstand bleibt gefühlt messer- |_|_) | Sysadmin WSR | scharf. captcha's are often solved by humans in sweatshops the process aroud may be machine assisted. https://krebsonsecurity.com/2012/01/virtual-sweatshops-defeat-bot-or-not-tes...

the Raumzeitlabor solution | Wenn es nachts Fünf nach halb Drei ist, | was steht dann auf einer Digitaluhr [HH:MM]? works because you need to understand German (not nice for Metalab) - OTOH it's easy meat if the sites that are using it are seen as lucrative targets. cu, Peter
Hi! "Unbreakable" captchas are broken by social engineering these days. There are a number of "free download" and porn sites out there that "proxy" these captches and let users solve them to get to the content. If you have enough solved captchas, you can try and use them as data set to teach/verify some automatic algorithm like a neural net. (In automatic mode, if it only works 1% of the time, it's enough...) I'm going too. Actually, I have this idea to go as far as to ditch MOS and use Mediawiki as website CMS. :)
now that the MOS project is finaly active again it would be a shame to just ditch it.. id rather ditch mediawiki for something with a bit more constraints so there is at least some kind of structure which should be easy to get at first glance but also prevent messy balls of static information like it is now.. i tried to do some usefull dynamic pages to give some structure (usergroup, workshop, project lists) but there is so much more to be done if we keep the wiki.. but i guess thats a discussion best had on the 21st -vier
