Hiya Folks, There is another RetroSession planned at Metalab this week, Friday .. scheduled activities so far include the attempted recovery of an Amstrad CPC6128 to working order, and a demonstration of the new Twilighte/Sittler card for Oric/Atmos running Orix, a Minix-like OS for Oric/Atmos machines, and which should be a bit of fun for retro enthusiasts and newbies alike. If you’ve got something Retro- to bring along to the session, would be great to have you involved - maybe you’ve already got a working Amstrad CPC6128 that we could use as a reference to get the other one booted? Maybe you’ve got a new bit of gear for your Spectrum or C64 machines - or perhaps you just wanna load up some old games and blast bits like its 1985 all over again - then join us on Friday! Would be cool to see a RetroSession with a few machines .. Details here - feel free to add your own items, if you’re coming along to demo something: https://metalab.at/wiki/RetroSessions ; -- Jay Vaughan seclorum@icloud.com

The oldest thing I own is the first Playstation, which is not so easy to transport. So I'll look into some retro game emulator stuff for my Nintendo 3DS. ~Hannah 2018-05-23 10:30 GMT+02:00 Jay Vaughan <seclorum@icloud.com>:

Hello and YAYYY... Unfortunately I will not be able to come this friday but I'm looking forward to next month. By the way - I am looking for any working SCSI Disk in the 500 MB to 2 GB range for an old quite special Macintosh I want to bring to one of these meetings. If anyone has something lying around I'd be very interested! lg AndiS
I probably have a SCSI disk for you somewhere Andreas... let’s discuss it next time. I also have a SCSI2SD adapter in case that is of use, also. ; -- seclorum

Event Log for 25 May 2018 RetroSession • torpor: presented non-working Amstrad CPC6128, attempted repair (with help from MaV), determined that a full replacement set of RAM chips is in order. Repair of this machine continues. Also presented working Oric Atmos machine, demo'ed a number of old games, discussion of graphics techniques of the 8-bit machines (due to time constraints, and burned fingers from the Amstrad repair, the Twilighte+Sittler card demo running Orix postponed for next session.) Hop: presented his AmigaOS emulator rig on PSP, got it upgraded during the session. ??? presented the very retro electro-mechanical Space Invaders machine, which he intends to modify with new and updated graphics and features (at some point, maybe). Hannah: played some weird old Oric games, basked in the glory of 8-bit pixels. Plans were made by members of the RetroSession squad to bring other interesting gear for the next RetroSession, scheduled for 29 June. Thanks to the RetroSession crew for making last nights session fun and interesting .. was nice to have us together, and I look forward to the next one… which is tentatively scheduled now for JUNE 29. The Amstrad repairs will continue - and I encourage anyone with an interest in Retro computing to come to the next session, where we will be demo’ing an original BeBox, pushing its blinkenlights for mirth and amusement. j.
DID Happen, pics are now here: https://metalab.at/wiki/RetroSessions <https://metalab.at/wiki/RetroSessions> Will remember to do pics at every RetroSession from here on out .. ; -- Jay Vaughan seclorum@icloud.com

Hi!

Sound great - I have a Macintosh Performa 630 DOS Compatible wher the Disk seems to have died. It's a really cool machine that I want to resurrect so lets talk about it! lg AndiS

On deeper examination, I have just found that this old Mac uses IDE Drives instead of SCSI. I'm a bit surprised but hey who am I to complain - IDE drives I have plenty so im settled here! lg AndiS
